Day 3

Another short walk today, around the town of La Charite-sur-Loire. Only 1.6 miles. The cathedral was magnificent in that we were able to see the various stages of construction, from early Romanesque through high Gothic. A pretty vibrant small town with some significance for the pilgrims on the route de Vezelay. We wondered if the 84 steps were symbolic of the climb to heaven 😊. Definitely put a strain on the old leg muscles! That was after a similar number of steps to our very central apartment on the 2nd floor (3rd in US)--with our bags!
