Day 22

Another driving day, working our way south through some interesting countryside. Leaving Bazas, we were in the "Landes"--flat forested sandy land--difficult for pilgrims on foot, but we sped through to Captieux, Roquefort (not the cheese), Mont de Marsan and St Sever. By far, for me the best was the Church of Saint Mary Magdalen in Mont de Marsan. The obvious connection to our church in Evanston, but also the stained glass windows which tell the stories of her in the Bible, but also the one that shows her landing in Provence in southern France--the connection to Saint James.
