Day 21

The chilliest morning so far--same temperature as Evanston, but the sunrise was a bit different. Once we walked to the edge of town, we followed a rail trail which was very convenient for school kids on bikes and pilgrims on foot, with views of the cathedral of Bazas from nearly every angle.

We walked as far out on the Way as we thought prudent, before turning to make our loop, only to find that we were again on the Way. Diverted some to add a mile or so, and back up the hill to the cathedral, its garden and a mid-morning coffee. So civilized!

I wonder what this door/window would have looked like in its day.

The spire certainly sticks way up above the abundant vegetation. Makes for a good landmark
